Fixing Spotlight after DWL-122 driver installation
After installing the driver for the D-Link DWL-122 USB-WLan-Dongle Spotlight
stops working on OS X Tiger. Instead of reinstalling the OS I deleted the
folder /.Spotlight-V100
(within Terminal.app), booted the System from the
Tiger DVD and run a permission repair on the main volume. Back in OS X I
issued an
sudo mdutil -E /
in Terminal.app and Spotlight started to rebuild it's metadatabase. Now Spotlight is working again.
Do you have any experience with OS X 10.4 freezing/crashing when removing DWL-122? My iBook running OS X 10.4 allways crashes when I remove the stick :-( Kai

I had some crashes, but only in combination with sleep-mode. I use the DWL-122 with KisMAC. KisMAC unloads the D-Link driver and loads it's own driver, maybe that driver is more stable.
